What is with the belief that adults ar enot allowed to like anything fun? I watched some of my friends parents literally rot away sitting in front of a tv for years and years because of the stipulation that it's "weird" or "lame" for older people to enjoy things. Kinda fucking gay, imo. 30 isn't even that old in reality. It's middle age.

sure but how does that enjoyment take place? lets just accept its 100% true that its weird and lame for adults to go on imageboards or whatever else, like playing with pokemon cards or some shit.
isnt it weird that there arent really any mature hobbies for these adults to enjoy? if we accept that adults would prefer to rot away in front of a tv than play with childish things, why arent there any compelling alternatives?

Why are the two mutually exclusive? I also work on mature radio and computer equipment in my spare time. My friends all come to me to fix their equipment cause I can save them mone. To suggest that one cannot both enjoy Radio and Computer hobbies and, also, still enjoy using image boards is fallacious. I have been using image boards since before the internet was dominated by social media companies and I will not stop using them just because some people have an issue with some on cause of their age.

Adulthood is a conservative spook.

You guys are kinda wrong.
Adults actually are given more moral license to enjoy what they want. It's kids and young adults who are crucified for having fun.

Also, kids stuff is actually much more tame and ethical compared to adult fun.
Pokemon cards never got people into debt as much as gambling cards did.

Also image boards are just an evolution of Talk Radio.

>>157519
It's not. Childhood is the lame conservative spook. Adulthood is actually quite more libertine.
Adults are excellent denialists about this though.

im just playing devils advocate, ultimately i tend to agree with you more
it really fucking pisses me off when adults hijack hobbies oriented towards children and teenagers, it even ruins it for the other adults (the ones who arent sleeping with stuffed animals and soypogging over craters)
and porkie has done a lot in recent years to make infantilization a normal part of marketing and design

Like these two spooks are in a dichotomy.
>Adulthood is actually quite more libertine.
Being able to enjoy kiddy stuff as an adult doesn't mean you will be considered one as >>157550 shows. Adulthood has its own set of customs which you must follow to be considered "grown up." The reason why teenagers are made fun of when they try to be adult is because they have a skewed understanding of what the adult culture is. In reality the adult culture is rather dull and pretentious, adults don't tend to enjoy violent stuff as much as teenagers do, instead opting for the gritty realism and mundanity of everyday life (slice-of-life, business, sports and historical manga are very common in seinen for a reason btw).

Irony is, that's the same stuff teens enjoy. Sports, slice -of-life, and fantasy. Also adults mock things aimed for kids specifically and mock them for enjoying it.

Also, people get more butthurt about anything zany or nuanced found in children's media.

Also, adults enjoy gambling and drinking which are consequential but then mock video games.

I cannot express how amusing but disheartening it is that adults wanna shut down kids spaces out of fear of "muh grooming" but then get upset when kids enjoy more precocious stuff.

These same adults have no problems adding childrens media to culture war bullshit.

There's even incidents of adults mocking kids online over fan art and OCs.

It's all just trying to fit in, as with a lot of other things in society. Even politics are often just peer pressure, even on this very board.
