The normal boards have been overtaken by psychos since at least 2015. Really earlier. I think 2011 was around when I first started noticing that "trolling" outside of /b/ was no longer under control and was increasingly unironic. There was a mass exodus from most of the hobby boards years ago, the site has been dominated by /pol/ for a decade. There was a time when going on racist tirades outside of /b/ would get you banned from the smaller boards. The nice hobbyist community aspect most of the site used to have hasn't existed for a very long time. Even offshoots have gotten worse about this - like imageboard culture has been readjusted to more accommodate these kinds of psyops.
