This series was full of shameless Chinese stereotypes that today's radlibs will call racist. The games didn't take themselves too seriously and their jokes were not meant to offend anyone. In fact, the games are a celebration of John Woo's movies. People take everything too close to heart nowadays.

They were funny, like, 10 years ago. Plus, it's always funny when the national stereotypes actually have some grounding in modern reality. Even gopniks and football hooligans are people whom you really can meet on the streets of Russia and Britain, even if not as often.

Tbh it's the opposite. Aiming for realism defeats the purpose, it's supposed to be absurd. Part of the joke is the performance itself… like in Tropic Thunder, accuracy and realism is not the point.
