TL;DR long-term faggot Christel sold to long term faggot Andrew domain access and limted holding company access (or something like, i do not understand the second part of the scam). he took over freenode with the help of his lawyers, admins were to pussy scared of getting sued to say anything until they quit. Ss only going to be there to shill shells now, his shitty bznz.

This came out of nowhere and I initially thought it was related to the recent attacks on Stallman and the FSF. There's been talk of some Freenode admins intimidating and banning Stallman supporters. I thought Freenode had gotten over its growing pains ages ago when Rob Levin was misusing donations and made people mad enough for a mass exodus to OFTC. Then he died in a car accident and it seemed like that would be the end of Freenode's troubles.

>Anybody else following the current Freenode drama/exodus?
>Yet another example of our projects failing. The internet as a liberatory force has been an abject failure.
This has nothing to do with internet technology, I listened to the video of the techrights website guy and the fault seems to be in meat-space. Internal power struggles, bad behavior of people and so on.

We could try tech fixes for meat problems:
On the technical side it's easier to just put a server that hosts things, but then the server is subject to power struggle. Peer to peer systems don't have that problem, but it's very new technology and it's not obvious how to make it work smoothly. What needs to happen is a general purpose virtual server that on the network side works like peer to peer. A peer to peer stack that can handle existing client server software would be nice, and use device resources from users as well as using traditional hosting resources.

Not much but yet but I have actively been reaching out to find out about there democratic process, etc. but mostly wating for the dust to settle as they are obviously busy atm. What worries you about there network policies?

Someone else got #communism before I could lads, what other good chan names should be grabbed in the move?

So it's not a technological problem.
>What worries you about there network policies?
It has an exploitable code of conduct. Go read it for your self but focus on how it could be abused to create division and disruption, if you can't see it right away, you have a blind-spot because it's pretty obvious.

>So it's not a technological problem.
A. Nobody is claiming it is ITT until you came to sperg aboot it.
B. It can be argued it is a technological failing in that it is a failing in how DNS and domain registration and holding works for all practical purposes. But i am not interested in having this argument particularly and IDK why you are. Internet spaces have been a colossal failure all in all weather the problem is technological or human.

the underlying technology is more or less fine but in recent years i rarely find non-software IRC channels that aren't just a shit circlejerk of cunts who've been on there since 2001, which has about one conversation a day which you've got no hopes of breaking into because people are here to talk to their friends, not the "new" guy who'll fuck off after 6 months of being ignored.
the internet is shit.
