The thing is that they just rarely have the skills and means to keep it alive and moderate it.
And they lack the creativity to make it its own thing.
If you are an alternative to 4chan. You will never be more. You will always be just the place for some people to drop some shit when they are banned there. You are not a contender, you are the second choice.
So if you want to actually make a good imageboard, you have to question every concept of the established shit.
But the ones we have now do not even question the default view, even thought that everybody immediatley clicks to the catalogue.
Don't copy, make your own.
I am convinced that the current imageboards do not get used because they are good, but because they have users. And the less established boards are literally just "i am already used to this".
