(Chapo Trap House) Abruendance Agenda feat. Madinah Wilson-Anton & Matt Bruenig (3/24/25)
Delaware state rep Madinah Wilson-Anton returns to the show to brief us on Elon Musk’s attempts to rewrite the state laws of Delaware to help him secure a $50 billion+ compensation package. We discuss the “race to the bottom” in state business laws, and the new wave of assaults on basic legal legitimacy in pursuit of complete oligarchical control. Then, Matt Bruenig joins us to discuss the hot new word on all the wonks’ lips: ABUNDANCE. We review the Abundance Agenda, Matt gives us his takes on the policies, and we evaluate the Abundance potential as a viable organizing principle for the moribund Democratic party.

On the Anniversary of Land Day, Palestinian Land is Not for Sale: PFLP
No to the slaughter of the land… No to the folding of banners. On the anniversary of Land Day… this land is Palestinian, not for sale, and we will never abandon it—no matter how long it takes. To the masses of our proud Palestinian people… to the masses of our Arab nation… to the free people of the world, On the 30th of March, we proudly and honorably remember the epic of the Eternal Land Day, when our people in the Naqab, the Triangle, the Galilee, and all parts of occupied Palestine since 1948 rose up on the land of their fathers and forefathers. With bare chests, they faced the zionist machinery of oppression in defense of their land, dignity, and existence. They etched with their blood the features of Palestinian identity and affirmed that the land remains Palestinian and the right remains firm—no matter how immense the challenges or how brutal and criminal this occupation becomes, even as it wages one of the most horrific genocidal wars in modern history.

Frederick Engels :Socialism: Utopian and Scientific II [Dialectics]
The new facts made imperative a new examination of all past history. Then it was seen that all past history, with the exception of its primitive stages, was the history of class struggles; that these warring classes of society are always the products of the modes of production and of exchange — in a word, of the economic conditions of their time; that the economic structure of society always furnishes the real basis, starting from which we can alone work out the ultimate explanation of the whole superstructure of juridical and political institutions as well as of the religious, philosophical, and other ideas of a given historical period. Hegel has freed history from metaphysics — he made it dialectic; but his conception of history was essentially idealistic. But now idealism was driven from its last refuge, the philosophy of history; now a materialistic treatment of history was propounded, and a method found of explaining man's "knowing" by his "being", instead of, as heretofore, his "being" by his "knowing".

>China lays down the law in facial recognition first with focus on privacy, security
I wish that biometrics would go away entirely, but privacy regs are a good start.

Eventually face-id will get relentlessly exploited, because it's like people having their password tattooed on their forehead. And then we can go to cryptographic keys stored on tokens, which will work like regular keys except that it's more convenient, because you can have lots of keys on one token instead of a cluttered key-ring, also lock picking will get a lot more complicated.

Admittedly I didn't read it yet, i might later, I'm hesitant because the guardian might contain too much ruling ideology which could cause me mental irritation.

Anyway Melenchon (which is lefty or at least socdem) said he opposed it because the people should decide about political leadership, not the courts.

Alexander Mercuris' take is that this will boost Le Pen's political popularity. He also thinks that if Le Pen is embezzling funds then the ruling parties are most likely doing it too, and that this would damage the law, because it would loose political impartiality.

I'm wondering if this isn't the point, maybe the goal is to boost Le Pen and to damage trust in legal institutions. With an eye on the genocide in Gaza the current political leadership in France might have an incentive to damage the legal system.
