>Also how does one get better at playing by ear? Is it just a myth? >I’ve been messing around with piano for a month now and I know a few keys that go good together, but don’t know any theory or when I look into it seems too complicated and too much work to get into.>Is it possible to be a good musician by ear only? I’m more interested in playing than doing the basics Not really, you need some basics.
It might be easier to learn guitar than piano without much theory. There are many "tab" (guitar tablature) books which basically diagrams of what strings you play with your fingers at certain positions on the fretboard for songs, instead of being musical notation as such.
But it's useful to know things like the names of the chords (tonal clusters which give the feel of the music) that are being played at the different parts of the music, which you'll get from a book. then you can play it on an instrument when you know how to make the same chord with you fingers . - it's going to be a group of keys on the piano, or certain strings played with the strings held down on certain positions on the fretboard. So you can basically work some stuff out like that without having to have the supernatural pitch ability which you'll need if you try to do it all by ear.
>>982>Also am I just a noob if all I can do is chords and not finger picking and tabs?Nah you can play rhythm guitar in a band, or busk on your own if you sing as well. Any thing's better than just passively consuming shit and not doing anything yourself.

>i also want to learn how to sing good, but my main problem is singing out of tune and i need help on thatAnyway here's an exercise a singing teacher of mine gave me when I couldn't sing in tune.
try singing a note you hear that's being played on an instrument. Is your voice higher, or lower? If you can't tell, just go in one direction until it gets closer or further away from the note you hear.
It might help to image your voice is a column of air holding a ping pong ball up. Try to raise or lower the pitch of your voice to raise or lower the ping pong ball.
